Masala vada is quite easy to make. It goes well with Tea in the evenings...
Ingredients :
Bengal Grams (Channa/Kadala Parupu) - 2 cups
Fenugreek seeds : 1 teaspoon
Onion - 1 small
Green Chillies - 3 medium sized
Rice flour - 2 teaspoon
Curry Leaves - as needed
salt - to taste
Procedure :
1 . Soak the grams in water for 4-5 hours
2. Drain the water from grams and coarsely grind the grams with 1 green chilli. You can add the salt while grinding the grams.
3. Chop the onions and chilles into small pieces.
4. Mix the fenugreek seeds,chopped onions, Green chillies , Curry Leaves and grinded grams together.
5. Finally add the rice flour to the paste which will make the vada more crispy.
6. Heat the oil in the pan. Once the oil is hot , drop the vadas and fry it.
7. Tasty crispy vada is ready. Enjoy with coconut chutney.
